Franklin Township Middle School West (FTMSW) is a middle school in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. The school's previous enrollment was 725 students in grades 7 and 8.[1] It was formally Franklin Central High School but a newer larger building was built in 1963 to accommodate student growth. It is the responsibility of the Franklin Township Community School Corporation. The school was previously known as Franklin Township Middle School. Due to the Franklin Township's rapid growing student population a second middle school, Franklin Township Middle School East, was built to accommodate more students and is now the only middle school FTCSC supports. In 2011, FTCSC shut down the middle school and changed Edgewood Intermediate School into the schools new building. The old middle school building was later used to hold students who attend Central Nine Career Center until the shuttle bus to Central Nine Career Center arrives at around 7:30am.

On October 26, 2011, police arrested a 13-year-old boy and say he was using school hours to recruit members to his gang. The teen was arrested on 3 charges, including gang recruiting. According to the police report, the boy tried to intimidate a classmate to join his gang called the King Squad, which is also part of a bigger gang called the Brick Squad. The victim stated the 13-year-old said he could give the boy protection if he agreed to wear red. Police say the gang is responsible for a slew of crimes across Indianapolis such as burglaries, thefts and car break-ins.[2]
